When supply chains are in the general news...
Whenever the supply chain is in the general news headlines, you know it’s not for praise or congratulations. The general public doesn’t give Supply Chain a second thought – or even a first thought, for that matter – in normal times. And that’s how it should be. Nevertheless, supply chain problems were front-and-center for most of 2022 and not just for isolated items like computer chips and baby formula. Shortages abounded across the board.
How did things go so horribly wrong? While there is plenty of blame to go around, there are also some basic approaches and assumptions that are embedded in modern supply chain management that did not really cause the problems but made the situation a lot worse than it might have been. This is such a complicated and involved situation that it surely cannot be thoroughly analyzed in a brief lunch-time discussion but we can promise you an enlightening overview of some of the driving forces that led to the big problems in 2022 and some insight into how the tools and approaches currently in use can be fine-tuned to better deal with major disruptions in supply and demand such as those that we experienced this past year.
Join us March 15, 2023 for a ‘Lunch & Learn’ from 12:00 (noon-time) to 12:45. Invite your friends and enjoy your lunch and participate! Our presenter is well-known in ASCM/APICS circles and is a fascinating speaker!

Senior supply chain analyst Dave Turbide, CFPIM, CSCP, CIRM, CMfgE, author of six books and hundreds of articles, white papers, web pages and blog posts will take you on an overview of how supply chain planning works and how planners can use these tools to prepare for and respond to change and disruptions in normal times as well as rare and unexpected events such as we’ve recently experienced. Dave has been immersed in manufacturing operations and supply chain management for more than 40 years, contributed to CSCP courseware development, was a master instructor for CPIM and CSCP, and past president of the Granite State chapter of APICS for 10+ years.
